About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Electrical Engineer for a 10-month hybrid project based in Hamburg. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact engineering project while working with a collaborative team in a flexible setting. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering, solid knowledge of German standards and regulations, and the ability to work effectively in both on-site and remote environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Engineering
• Develop and implement electrical concepts and technical drawings in compliance with DIN, VDE, and IEC standards.
• Prepare load lists, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and related documentation.
• Project Management Support
• Participate in project planning, cost estimation, and technical risk assessments.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors.
• Site Supervision & Commissioning
• Provide technical oversight on-site in Hamburg during critical installation and commissioning phases.
• Conduct functional testing, inspections, and system verifications to ensure quality and safety.
• Documentation & Compliance
• Prepare and update as-built documentation, compliance certificates, and maintenance manuals.
• Ensure compliance with local German building codes, ATEX zones, and EHS policies.
• Stakeholder Coordination
• Liaise with internal departments, external vendors, and clients.
• Represent the engineering function in technical reviews, site meetings, and handovers.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in electrical systems design and project execution.
• German language proficiency at B1 level or higher.
• Proven experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar electrical design tools.
• Strong understanding of European electrical codes (VDE, DIN, IEC) and project lifecycles.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in industrial, automation, or energy sectors.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, and ATEX compliance.
• Prior freelance or contract-based project work in Germany.
